2-Tabloid Media
Tiger Beat magazines
Tiger Beat magazines have been a staple of American pop culture particularly among teenagers. Since 1965, Tiger Beat has dedicated themselves to covering the lives and careers of young popular celebrities. Tiger Beat often write about the current teenage "heartthrob" and rising stars. Tiger Beat is often referred to as tabloid magazine due to its focus on celebrity drama and gossip.
Tabloid media is characterized by its focus on sensationalism, celebrity gossip, and entertainment news. These publications often contain eye-catching headlines, scandalous stories, and visually appealing layouts. Tabloids are usually less concerned with hard news and in-depth reporting, instead opting for content that is easily digestible and easy to talk about. The primary goal of tabloid media is to entertain.
How Tabloids Work | HowStuffWorksTabloid media can impact public perception. Careers can end because of a simple false cover on a magazine or a fake article. Tabloid media's main purpose is entertainment but is just more of a pain to celebrities rather than a good thing. No one wants to have false news being spread about themselves and the false news that floats around on these magazines can change the public's perception.
Armie Hammer, once a rising star, saw his career go down the drain because of tabloid media. An anonymous Instagram account shared detailed disturbing fetishes about Armie Hammer and the tabloid media quickly picked it up. Hammer was dropped by multiple projects and received a lot of backlash and hate.
Tabloid media like "Tiger Beat" is a perfect example of the use of eye-catching headlines, photoshopped pictures, and aesthetically pleasing layouts. Tabloid media is a serious way to spread untrue information just for entertainment purposes. In my opinion I think these magazines are stupid, the stories and drama inside of them serve me no purpose to know and most of the time the articles are untrue.
